LiveAction Review: Hanazakari no Kimitachi E
HANAZAKARI NO KIMITACHI E
Produced by: Fuji TV
Main Cast Members: Toma Ikuta, Maki Horikita, Shun Oguri, Hiro Mizushima, Kyo Nobuo, Ishigaki Yuma etc.

The Story:

The drama is based on the popular manga of the same name by Nakajo Hisaya. Horikita plays the protagonist Ashiya Mizuki, a Japanese girl in the U.S. who one day sees the young athlete Sano Izumi (Oguri) compete in the high jump on television. She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. However, Izumi goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki disguises herself as a boy to achieve her dream of being with her idol.

My Thoughts:

Yes, I'm sorry it took me this long to write about my oh-so-favorite live action drama to date. From the unforgettable opening tune ('Ikenai Taiyou, nananananananana...') to the hilarious 'flower effect' everytime Toma Ikuta's Nakatsu looked at Horikita's Mizuki, there's nothing that I didn't love about this drama. True, the Taiwanese beat the Japanese yet again to produce their version of the ever popular manga (the first time being Hana Yori Dango of course) the earliest, but I still prefer the Japanese adaptation of the story. It's actually the drama that made me a fan of Toma Ikuta and Maki Horikita. Sometimes it appears as if Nakatsu's hilarious antics upstaged that of Oguri's Sano Izumi cool character but I think Izumi is still a necessary character in order to bring some kind of balance to the story (being serious as oppose to being silly). And lets not forget the other cast members that are as silly & outrageous as it comes, bringing you an enjoyable & tension-free story.

My Ratings: * * * *
