Manga Review: Bride of Deimos
BRIDE OF DEIMOS
By: Etsuko Ikeda, Yuuho Ashibe

The Story:

Minako, a schoolgirl with flowing blond hair, is approached by a stranger who declares Minako is to be his bride. Suddenly he reveals himself as the devil and informs her there is no escape: all those whom she loves will be destroyed piecemeal until she agrees to be the Bride of Deimos. The rest of the book follows Minako as she attempts to continue her ordinary life, but things aren't the same.

My Thoughts:

As you can probably tell, I'm a big fan of shojo mangas (but it also depends on my moods). But although this manga might seem to fit the bill of the usual shojo mangas (pretty boys & girls, romantic storyline) this manga is actually a bit darker story-wise. Can be categorized with Petshop of Horrors (although somewhat an older, more romantic version), I like the fact that the story doesn't revolves around the main characters alone and evolves towards their classmates, close friends & families. The graphics might be a bit outdated (but still pretty by shojo standards) since it's in the same league as Ouke no Monshou (time-wise), this manga has a good balance of the gothic & romantic athmosphere that will attract you to read more.

My Ratings: * * * *
